The years spent with your dog friends are short but precious, so it’s important to give them all the love they want and need while they’re with us.
Unfortunately, not everyone agrees. Often, as dogs approach dusk, owners are less likely to abandon them and, in most cases, re-adopt them.
At first it seemed that this could be the story of 19-year-old Ace, who left his master in old age. To make matters worse, a wildfire near his former hideout forced him to drive 150 miles from home.
He met Bonnie’s adoptive parents at his new home. When he walked an old puppy, he walked with an old dog leash and saw how energetic he was. So they decided to take him home for a while.
Things didn’t start well for Ace. He didn’t seem to care much for Bonnie or Bonnie’s other dogs, and he seemed distant. However, over time he became more energetic and even began to play with other dogs.
It was finally time, Bonnie thought, to put Ace up for adoption. But the adoption process was delayed by some dental work the old dog needed to get. It was that waiting period that changed things.
Ace started getting Bonnie’s attention and fell in love with Bonnie and Bonnie changed her mind and adopted him. The road was long, but Ace found his home.
